WINSTED —  Employees from The Beardsley Library celebrated the installation of a second StoryWalk®  at the Sue Grossman Greenway on Saturday, June 5.

The idea behind the concept is to install laminated pages from a book along an outdoor path, with readers reading each page of the story as they walk along.

The first StoryWalk® was installed in April by the library, with various pages from children’s books installed along the trail.

“It encourages families to go out and get active, and also to read,” Library Director Karin Taylor said. “The new one includes pages with a train theme that goes along with this Rail Trail.”

“It’s a good way to get everyone outdoors,” Children’s Librarian Carol Parent said. “Lots of kids don’t do that nowadays.”
Parent added that the library has several programs coming up this summer, including its annual summer reading program starting on Saturday, June 26.

The program will kick off on that day with a program by Sharon Audubon
