WINSTED — The Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) will be having their benefit pig roast on Tuesday, June 22 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m at Little Red Barn Brewers.

Tickets are $25 each and must be purchased by June 15.

Music for the event will be provided by Brewery co-owner Nathan Day.

According to member and co-organizer Lynn Schrock, the event is being held to support DAR’s programs including historic preservation, scholarships, support for local veterans groups and other local charities.

“These programs are all important because sometimes they get neglected and not taken care of,” Schrock said. “Especially scholarships for kids to go to school. The DAR has many programs, including the yearly Wreaths Across America and dealing with the veterans.”

According to its website at DAR.org, the organization was founded in October 1890 for various historical, educational, and patriotic purposes.

The national membership of the organization is over 950,000 nationwide.

Tickets are available at F&G Richards at 572 Main Street and Little Red Barn Brewers.
