WINSTED — The town will hold its Memorial Day parade and ceremony this Monday, May 31.
The event will start at 10:30 a.m. at George Dudley Memorial Park (also known as West End Park) with the VFW Post 296 holding a small honor ceremony.
The step off for the parade will be at 11:30 a.m., coming out of Division Street onto Main Street.
Parade participants will march down to East End Park for a ceremony.
The Grand Marshal for the parade is veteran First Class Airman Mark Roberts, who served with the United States Air Force Reserves security forces.
At the ceremony at East End Park, a memorial address will be given by Deirdre Houlihan DiCara, Executive Director of FISH (Friends in Service to Humanity of Northwestern Connecticut).
The ceremony will include the reading of the names of 116 fallen local soldiers from the Revolutionary War to Vietnam War, along with a VFW firing squad salute.
