WINSTED —  On Saturday, May 22, members of VFW Post 296 and its Auxiliary, along with Cub Scouts Pack 1027 and members of the Gilbert School’s baseball team, all took part in replacing flags on the graves of veterans at three cemeteries. The volunteers all traveled to the cemetery across the street from East End Park, Forest View Cemetery, and the New Catholic Cemetery. Organizers estimate that 1,100 flags were laid at gravesites at all three locations.
