NORTHWEST CORNER — Chorus Angelicus will be streaming its virtual concert on its website on Saturday, May 22 starting at 7 p.m.
The concert is entitled “A Spring Celebration in Music.” and will include Gabriel Löfvall as its artistic director.
The concert will include a new choral work by acclaimed composer Nicholas White, a former artistic director for Chorus Angelicus.
The work entitled “The Arrow and the Song” was commissioned specifically for a virtual choir and is based on the poem by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.
Other works will include music by Daley, Fauré, Jacobson, Mozart, and Pergolesi, along with poems by Longfellow, Charles Dickens, Jean Racine, and William Shakespeare.
According to Chorus Angelicus Program Administrator Bethany Lee, the program, which will include 45 students from all around the area, will be the last virtual concert for the organization.
“We hope that we will be able to resume in-person concerts in the fall,” Lee said. “The pandemic has been hard on everybody. However, the children did the best that they could during this pandemic and they learned new skills through our virtual concerts. They learned how to present themselves in front of a camera and how to work on articulation. When you are singing live with a choir you can hide when you make a mistake. When you are having to record yourself, it puts you in the spotlight and you have to be even better.”
