According to state data, as of Sunday, March 7, 388 residents are currently hospitalized due to Covid symptoms, which, according to Gov. Ned Lamont is the lowest rate the state has seen in months.
The number is a decline of 40 residents since Thursday, March 5.
The test positivity rate as of March 7 is 2.63, while there have been 21 new deaths, bringing the total amount of deaths in the state to 7,725.
“Don’t lift your guard,” Gov. Lamont said at his press conference on Monday, March 8. “It’s worth remembering the variant, which used to be known as the UK variant, has gone from 40 cases to 81 cases in the past week. The rate is not going up exponentially, it’s going up linearly. The state has very low incidents of the South African variants. We think we have a good handle of where we are with the infections.”

Meanwhile, Gov. Lamont said that the state will be receiving 137,000 first doses of the vaccine this week.
So far, 773,280 residents have received their first dose of the Covid vaccine, with 389,402-second doses administered, and a total of 1,162,682 total doses administered.
Gov. Lamont reported that 75 percent of the state’s 75 and older population has received their first dose, along with 64 percent of the state’s 65 to 74 years-old population, and 25 percent of the state’s 55 to 64 years-old population.
