School districts all across the state will soon be receiving an estimated $443 million in federal pandemic assistance under the  Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act.
The CARES Act is a $2.2 trillion economic stimulus bill that was passed by Congress and signed into law by former President Donald Trump on March 27, 2020 in response to the economic fallout of the Covid Pandemic.

As released on Friday, Jan. 29 by the state’s Department of Education Bureau of Fiscal Services, here is a list of school districts in the Northwest Corner and what they are getting in financial aid via the CARES act:

Winchester: $850,160
Torrington: $2,929,170
District 7: $106,949
Barkhamsted: $30,562
Colebrook: $31,094 
New Hartford: $59,161
Norfolk: $11,191 
Explorations Charter School: $46,995
