WECAN Initiative COVID report: In December 168 new total cases in Winsted, 604 new total cases in Torrington

Headlines: according to the state’s COVID report issued on Saturday, Jan. 2, the state’s daily test positivity rate is now at 7.06 percent, down from the previous rate of 9 percent on Thursday, Dec. 31.

The state’s death rate due to COVID is now at 6,099, an increase of 104 deaths since Dec. 31.

Total case rate for the state is now at 190,120, an increase of 4,412.

Testing: Charlotte Hungerford Hospital’s drive-thru testing is at 211 High Street in Torrington from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Community Health and Wellness in Torrington will be continuing to offer free weekly walk-up/line up COVID-19 testing on Fridays throughout the month of January at its Torrington facility on 469 Migeon Avenue from 9:30 a.m. until noon and another pop-up testing site on Monday January 11th at Salisbury Visiting Nurses Association, 30A Salmon Kill Road, from 9:30 until 12 p.m.
