WINCHESTER CENTER/WINSTED/PRESS RELEASE — The Winchester Fire Department, located on 100 Newfield Road, has completed the installation of an automatic generator.
The project was partially funded by the Auxiliary for Community Health, which operates its Thrift Shop at 120 Willow Street in Winsted.
According to a press release, the balance of the costs for the generator were paid for through fundraising donations from residents.
The new generator system will provide emergency power to the firehouse, the Winchester Center Grange #74, and the Winchester Post Office. All three buildings are next door to each other.
The generator will allow the buildings to be used for emergency shelter for residents if needed.
