Headlines: On Thursday, Dec. 3, the state reported that the COVID-19 total case rate is now 126,177, an additional 4,751 cases since yesterday.

The daily test positivity rate is now 7.13 percent, the highest rate since May.

There are currently 1,191 residents hospitalized, which is down by 11 residents.

The death rate is 5,111, which is 20 more deaths since yesterday.

According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), as of Dec. 3, there are 13,822,249 COVID cases in the United States, an increase of 196,227 new cases since yesterday. There are now 272,525 deaths in America due to COVID, an increase of 2,762 since yesterday.

Testing: Charlotte Hungerford Hospital is continuing with its drive-thru testing at 540 Litchfield Street in Torrington from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. However, the hospital’s drive-thru testing location will move to 211 High Street in Torrington starting on Monday, Dec. 7.

Community Health and Wellness in Torrington will continue with its free COVID testing on Fridays in December, except for Christmas Day. The testing will take place from 9:30 a.m. until 12 p.m. at 469 Migeon Avenue. The testing is walk in with no appointments or referrals necessary.

Community Health and Wellness in Winsted, located at 10 Center Street, will be holding COVID tests on Monday, Dec. 7 from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Please be advised, this is not a drive thru testing site, and individuals will need to line up outside for testing. Schools: The Torrington Public School District is currently under a remote learning program until Friday, Dec. 4 with a return to in-person classes for K-5, and hybrid for 6-12, on Monday, Dec. 7. The Gilbert School in Winsted is currently under a remote learning program. The school is scheduled to return to hybrid learning at the school on Monday, Dec. 14.

On the Winchester School District’s Facebook page on Dec. 3, Superintendent of Schools Melony Brady-Shanley wrote that a member of the school community tested positive for COVID due to community spread.

“The last day this person was in the district was Monday, November 20,” Brady-Shanley wrote. “There are NO contacts to this case within the district.”

This is the second time this week that a member of the Winchester Public Schools community has tested positive for COVID-19.
