Christmas celebrations go on in Torrington

TORRINGTON — The city kicked off the holidays on Saturday, Nov. 28 with the opening of a Storywalk at Franklin Plaza.
The city has installed laminated pages from “The Night Before Christmas” picture book and has been installed all across the newly renovated Franklin Plaza.
Visitors “walk” through the pages of the story, with children collecting a small craft project that relates to the pages being read.
According to a press release issued by the city, the Storywalk is designed to keep families safe in their social bubbles during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Storywalk will remain up through Christmas Day, along with Christmas and holiday decorations in various storefronts.
On Saturday, Dec. 5, The Torrington Historical Society will hold its Holiday Lantern Tour. Information and tickets for the tour are available at
Christmas Village, a long-time holiday tradition, is scheduled to be open on Sunday, Dec. 13 through Thursday, Dec. 24 with limited capacity.
