WINSTED — A dedication ceremony was held for a memorial to the late Travis Jason Madden Aakjar on Saturday, Nov. 21 at the town’s Skate Park.
Aakjar, 34, died in a motorcycle accident in June.
He was a graduate of Northwestern Regional High School and worked in the field of landscaping for many years.
Aakjar volunteered for more than 15 years at the Open Door Soup Kitchen, and he was also a rollerblading enthusiast.
The memorial stone was designed by Marchi Memorials, and many of his friends and family attended the dedication, including his parents Roger Aakjar and Jean Hilton.
“We know that he’s up there in heaven rollerblading right now,” Roger Aakjar said. “I want to thank you all for coming out today. He loves you and we all love you.”
