WINSTED —  On Wednesday, Nov. 4, Superintendent of Schools Melony Brady-Shanley reported that the district was notified by the Torrington Area Health District of a positive COVID case at the Pearson School due to community transmission.
“To date, four students and one staff member are direct contacts,” Brady-Shanley wrote on the school district’s Facebook page. “They have been sent home and provided with next steps. While I understand this causes concern, please know that we are working with Torrington Area Health District to ensure staff and student safety. To date, no positive cases have been identified due to in-school transmission. If you have any questions, please contact me at 860-921-1747.”
Batcheller School re-opened on November 4 after being closed during the school day on Oct. 29 due to two new positive cases of COVID-19.
This is the fourth identified COVID case in the district.
