Update: ALL Winchester Public Schools closed until November 4 due to two new COVID cases

UPDATE: 5 p.m. Oct. 29: Superintendent of Schools Melony Brady-Shanley announced on the school district’s Facebook page that “Out of an abundance of caution, we are going to close all Winchester Public Schools so we can conduct extensive cleaning in all school buildings. Winchester Public Schools will be closed on Friday, Monday and Tuesday to all staff and students. We will return to in-person learning and distance learning on Wednesday, Nov. 4.”

WINSTED — On Thursday, Oct. 29, Superintendent of Schools Melony Brady-Shanley announced that Batcheller School will be closed until Wednesday, Nov. 4 due to two new positive cases of COVID-19.
Brady-Shanley posted on the school district’s Facebook page that parents would be picking up students early on Oct. 29.
“I will reassess the situation with the Torrington Area Health District as we gather more information in the short term,” Bradley-Shanley wrote. “All other Winchester Public Schools remain open and have no cause for concern. Over the course of the day, we will work on contact tracing and reaching out directly to those that are potentially impacted. I will be in contact with families again by the end of the day with further information.”
This is the third identified COVID-19 case in the district. Previously on Oct. 20, Brady-Shanley announced a positive case.
