WINSTED — Due to variable and ever-changing weather conditions, Mayor Candy Perez has advised residents not to travel out onto the ice of Highland Lake.
At the Board of Selectmen’s meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 21, Perez issued the advisory and said that fluctuating temperatures have made the ice on the lake unstable.
According to the National Weather Service, while temperatures on Jan. 21 reached as low as 12 degrees, temperatures are forecasted to be in the 40s on both Thursday, Jan. 23 and Friday, Jan. 24.
